Complete restaurant interior design and commercial fitout for Powwow coffee shop, bar and restaurant at The Exchange, Bridgwater, Somerset. Services included bespoke joinery design, sustainable material specification, custom lighting design, complete installation and project management.
Design Concept
Create a welcoming multi-purpose hospitality space that establishes Powwow as a community hub in Bridgwater. The restaurant interior design uses sustainable materials including FSC-certified birch plywood and engineered oak to convey the brand's natural, unpretentious ethos while providing a warm, versatile environment for daytime coffee and evening dining.

Our Somerset-based hospitality design team delivered a complete turnkey fitout for Powwow, transforming The Exchange community space in Bridgwater into a vibrant coffee shop, bar and restaurant. The project addressed the need for a multi-functional hospitality venue serving both daytime café customers and evening diners.
The restaurant interior design incorporates sustainable materials throughout. A striking freestanding feature wall constructed from FSC-certified European birch plywood with integrated sliding doors defines the dining area while maintaining visual openness. This architectural element creates a warm, natural entrance that draws customers into the space.
Custom-designed elements include a diamond-tile clad service counter, engineered oak wall paneling, suspended lighting features and bespoke furniture including tables and menu boards. All joinery was manufactured in-house using sustainable solid timber to ensure durability and longevity.
The lighting design features brass pendant lights with warm LED bulbs, creating an inviting atmosphere for both coffee shop customers and restaurant diners. Strategic placement ensures comfortable ambient lighting throughout the day and evening service periods.
