The project included design, manufacture and installation of bespoke back bar display shelving crafted from reclaimed timber, front bar counter re-cladding, extensive furniture reupholstery and table top replacement. The brief required maximising visual impact while minimising expenditure by refurbishing existing fixtures rather than complete replacement.
Design Approach
Create a welcoming, refreshed aesthetic that honors the Bristol building's Victorian heritage while appealing to modern patrons. The design prioritized sustainable solutions: reusing existing furniture, sourcing reclaimed materials and refinishing rather than replacing wherever possible. This approach aligned with both environmental responsibility and budget realities, keeping the project financially viable for the independent operator while creating substantial visual transformation.
The Solution
The focal element is custom back bar shelving designed for bottle and glassware display, fabricated from reclaimed timber sourced throughout Bristol and Somerset. The shelving incorporates adjustable storage, matching lighting positions and varying depths to accommodate spirits, wine bottles, and cocktail equipment while complementing the Victorian architecture.
Front Bar & Furniture Restoration. We reupholstered booth seating, bar stools, and dining chairs in commercial-grade fabrics suitable for Bristol's hospitality sector and replaced damaged table tops with reclaimed timber surfaces, extending the cohesive aesthetic throughout the space.
Results for Bristol's Independent Hospitality Scene. The completed refurbishment successfully repositions this Victorian Bristol venue for contemporary customers while respecting its heritage.
